Also known as Escarole, this lettuce like plant has a sharper flavor with creamy center leaves forming a delicious mild flavored heart. Although it can be grown as a spring crop, it is ideal for fall harvesting. (It is ideal for late crops which can be harvested into the winter, as it is very cold hardy.) 12-16 inch, tightly packed heads. Approximately 80 days to maturity.
