Biennial (Two year plant) and Perennial (Permanent plant). Large, 2-3 inch , clear yellow flowers on tall, sturdy spikes. The showy yellow flowers open in mid-afternoon through the evening. The fragrant blossoms also open on cloudy days. Can tolerate heat and drought. Self sows freely. Can tolerate a variety of soils. Likes well-drained soil. Great as a background flower, in large containers, roadsides, and meadows. Can be grown throughout the United States. It is grown as an Annual in Zone 5 or where temperatures fall below -20F.

  • Plant Height: 24 to 60 inches
  • Sunlight: Full Sun
  • Bloom Period: Summer

Biennial - no blooms the first summer, but the plant will return and produce yellow flowers the second summer. This is a biennial that acts like a perennial once it's established because it generally multiplies in the garden by sowing its own seeds, often coming up year after year without further care.
