Hardy Perennial. Popular ornamental landscape herb. A low growing, mound shaped aromatic plant with woody stems and gray-green leaves. Woody plant spreads to form attractive 8 to 12 inch high mounds. Topped with purple flowers in the summer that last until frost. The tubular flowers occur in clusters. Aromatic odor with pleasant taste. Aromatic leaves used to flavor meats, dressings, soups, and stews. Nice as a ground cover in dry areas. Good for borders, flower beds, and rock gardens. Makes a good winter houseplant or container plant. A favorite of chefs and gardeners. Enhances the flavor of soups, poultry, fish, and meatloaf.
